Holiday-Makers

Swimming is an obsession for Spike and Kyra, in my opinion they were seals in a previous life. Whenever they see water they just have to take a dip, even in fountains. On holiday in Aix-en-Provence (France) a city famous for its many fountains, I had trouble to take them along. In each fountain they wanted to swim sometimes I allowed it.

With a Border Terrier on vacation you get many nice contacts. People come over, to talk to you about their dogs at home, or about Spike and Kyra, to stroke them or to give them little treats. Spike and Kyra enjoy all the fuss.

Our first Border Terrier Terry also often went on holidays with us. The next events took place on a camping site in France. We are early risers even during holidays. At a given moment very early in the morning Terry was missing... To call for her was not possible: most holiday-makers were still fast asleep.

Whispering I called her name looking everywere: no Terry. All at once uproar in one of the foretents of a mobile home at the other end of the campingsite. Some Frenchmen came running out. What had happenend? The French people had a cat with them. Terry had been on the look out for that cat for some days and now her chance had come! In pursuit of the cat through the foretent and the mobile home across the beds where the French people were still asleep.

Every one around us had an early start that morning... Never a dull moment with a Border Terrier on vacation!
